AI and your data
Eivor's AI tools do three things: summarize a conversation, suggest a draft or reply, and rewrite text you selected (fix, shorten, change tone). They only run when you ask, and you review the result before anything is sent. A rewrite can be undone.
You choose where the processing happens. There are three modes in Settings → AI.
Built-in cloud AI: part of Eivor Max. The content needed for the job is sent via Eivor's server to the AI provider, currently OpenAI. Eivor's server adds the key and passes it on; nothing is stored on the way. The provider does not use the content for training under its API terms.
Your own key: you enter a key from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google or Microsoft Copilot. Content goes directly from your computer to that provider, under your own agreement with them.
Local only: a local language model (Ollama) and local models for sorting run on your computer. Nothing leaves the machine. The models are downloaded the first time, about 2 GB, and speed depends on your computer.
The automatic inbox sorting is separate from the AI tools and runs locally for everyone, also on Free. In Hybrid mode, uncertain cases can be sent to cloud AI as anonymized text.
