1. Who we are

Eivor is an email client developed by Power of Dreams AB ("we", "us"), the data controller for the limited personal data described below. Eivor connects to your existing email accounts (Office 365, Gmail, IMAP) to fetch, display, and send mail. Eivor is local-first by design: your email lives on your own device, not on our servers.

2. What Eivor accesses

Through the email accounts you connect, Eivor accesses the data needed to be your mail client: messages and their headers, attachments, folder/label structure, calendar events, and the contacts you correspond with (used for address autocomplete). Eivor only accesses this to provide its features to you.

3. Where your data is stored

Locally on your device: Email messages, attachments, calendar events, contacts, and search indexes are stored in an encrypted database on your computer. This is the core of Eivor's design — your mail content stays with you.
On our server: Only your Eivor account (email address, display name), OAuth tokens (encrypted), snooze timestamps, and calendar events for cross-device sync. We never store your email messages or attachments on our server.
AI features (optional): If you use Eivor's AI features (e.g. summarize a thread, rewrite tone, categorize), relevant text excerpts are sent to an AI provider (currently OpenAI) solely to produce that result. We do not retain AI requests or responses, and they are not used to train models.

4. Google user data — Limited Use

Eivor's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Specifically, for data obtained from your Google account, Eivor:

uses it only to provide and improve the email features you see in the app;
does not transfer it to others except as necessary to provide those user-facing features, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger/acquisition with your notice;
does not use it for advertising and never sells it;
does not allow humans to read it, unless you give explicit consent for specific messages, it is necessary for security (e.g. investigating abuse), to comply with law, or the data is aggregated and anonymised.

When you connect a Gmail or Google Workspace account, Eivor requests access to read, compose, send, and manage your mail and labels, your calendar events, and your basic profile (name, email, picture) — each only to deliver the corresponding feature in the app. You can revoke this access at any time at your Google Account permissions page or by removing the account in Eivor.

5. Microsoft and IMAP accounts

For Office 365 accounts, Eivor uses the Microsoft Graph API with the equivalent mail, calendar, and profile permissions. For IMAP accounts, Eivor connects directly to your mail server using the credentials you provide. The same local-first storage and no-selling, no-ads commitments apply to all account types.

6. How we share data

We never sell your data and never show ads based on your content. We share data only with the service providers required to run the features you use — Microsoft (Office 365 sync), Google (Gmail sync), and OpenAI (AI features) — and only when required by law.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export, and erase your personal data. Because Eivor is local-first, most of your data already lives only on your device — uninstalling removes it. You can delete your Eivor account and all server-stored data at any time from Settings, or by contacting us. To exercise any data right, email info@eivor.app.

8. Retention

Server-stored account data is kept while your account is active and deleted when you delete your account. Local data persists on your device until you remove the account or uninstall Eivor.

9. Children

Eivor is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. For material changes we will notify you via email or in the app. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
